Big Sing

A day (which we hope will be annual) where we invited Pembridge and other primaries in to learn a piece and perform it with our children as part of a massed choir, directed by our staff.

Aims

To give children from the local area the experience of a large scale group musical performance. This would have been difficult for them to achieve by themselves and our specialist music staff may have added value. The day was a success with the children enjoying themselves and the performance was excellent.

Background

We held a performing arts week in school and were keen for other local children to benefit from part of it.

Resources

Our specialist staff. Our large concert hall and piano. This was a one day project.

Impact

The children enjoyed themselves as did the visiting staff. They will all have gained from the experience of singing as part of a large group. No qualitative assessments seemed necessary.

Pupil Involvement

Pupils from the age of 7-11 took part from Pembridge. Our pupils were between 7 and 13. Boys and girls took part.

Frequency

It is hoped that this will become an annual event.
