Impact Statement
Our junior form regularly collaborates with its corresponding year 3 at the local school. The year 3 teacher has reported back as follows:
"The children in Ash class at St Nicholas school have hugely enjoyed their links with Hanford School over this academic year. In the autumn, we visited Hanford and took part in the Adventurers and Explorers Festivals, learning how to start fires without matches - totally inspiring! This linked with our science curriculum. Later in the term, year 3 and 4 from Hanford visited Ash class and provided a very appreciative audience for our work on Diwali and Hinduism, giving a real purpose to having produced a floor book to share our learning. Our joint Christmas writing project based on Mog's Christmas Calamity was a great success. Ash class produced a book detailing Mog's reflections on the events of a calamitous Christmas Eve in diary form, and then enjoyed reading the Hanford girls' accounts. This link is enabling us to find a real-life audience for our school work, take part in opportunities such as the forest skills which would otherwise not be available to our pupils and to meet children from different backgrounds with different experiences. We are looking forward to our next collaboration."
Our Director of Studies is a Governor of the local school representing many hours of shared support and expertise across the year.
