Impact Statement

We regularly hold a holiday football club facilitated by Aston Villa which is open to children from both the independent and state sector schools. The club gives children the opportunity of some professional football coaching that they might not otherwise be able to access. We also provide the venue and administration. Similarly, this year we have extended this to Moseley Rugby Club Academy and as part of their outreach programme they will be providing rugby coaching for both our pupils and externals during the holidays. Our annual Primary Schools Football Competition is also very popular with the local schools both independent and state maintained. This competition is held on our all-weather pitch at no charge to competing schools. In cross country we run an annual invitational competition hosted at the weekend, again children from the state sector are also invited to take part. We provide the venue and course, staffing and administration, refreshments and trophies at no charge to competitors. Parents are also invited to spectate, seating and refreshments are provided. This gives children from the state sector schools who do not have access to outdoor training facilities and sports fields the opportunity to experience competitive cross country on our extensive 20 acre site.
We also support the creative subjects with an annual art exhibition inviting local school children, parents and friends. Our Art Department along with our Extra-Curricular Co-ordinator plan and manage the event which gives the many talented pupils from the local community the opportunity to exhibit their works of art. Parents, teachers and friends are invited to view exhibition. All costs regarding venue, administration, set up and refreshments are met by the school.

Hallfield also offers weekly rehearsal facilities for Drama Link – an outreach community theatre project joining children together from across Birmingham, which includes some of our own pupils. This has been running for many years with an annual performance at the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham. The school makes no charge to Drama Link for the provision of rehearsal space and Drama Link makes no charge to its actors

We have formed a mutually beneficial partnership with the University of Worcester supporting their PGCE primary students’ placements. This allows students the opportunity to experience the breadth and depth of teaching in the independent sector without the constraints of the national curriculum. Students can observe teaching across all age ranges from 2/3 years old up to 11 years and take part in the wider curriculum with the many activities, clubs, visits and events we organise to enhance our pupils’ learning. This has been a positive initiative for both Hallfield and the University of Worcester helping students in deciding how they would like their teaching career to progress.
