Impact Statement

Each term our Director of Music, in association with the Oxford Music Service, visits three or four Primary schools in the area with three to four Choristers of Christ Church Cathedral. Their role is to talk about singing and to help teach the school pupils a number of songs. At the end of term the primary schools are invited to Christ Church Cathedral to perform a concert of their learned songs in front of their parents.
At the end of the year, all of the children who have participated over all three terms are invited back to the cathedral for a mass concert. The impact assessment is that approximately 360 primary school children each year are taught to sing by professional teachers, they visit the Diocesan Cathedral, most likely for the first time alongside their parents. The outsourced cost to the school is about £7000 per year and the cost to the school is considerable, we make no charges for this service to The Oxford County Music Service.
