Impact Statement

Our Director of Music and Community Engagement Manager spent 2 days at St Mary's Primary School helping with the Christmas Carol Performance. We offered musical support and the outcome has a tangible improvement in musical performance. A parents at St Mary's said it was "the best performance I have seen".

We offered transportation (using our school mini-buses and drivers) accommodation and specialist MFL teaching to a group of 20 Year 5 and 6 students from St Mark's School in Whitehawk, Brighton. The course consisted of an hour teaching of French every other week over the course of an academic year. The impact was an increase in the confidence and ability of the students to speak French and this was commented on by the Head of St Mark's frequently. Furthermore, it allowed the primary students to work in an alternative environment to their own school and benefit from specialist teaching of MFL, which was delivered in a fast-paced and conversational based style. The benefits to our school included building on a strong, previously existing partnership with St Mark's and allowing our staff to teach younger students from a diverse range of social backgrounds and adapting their pedological approach accordingly.

We offered transportation (using our school mini-buses and drivers) the use of a dance studio and specialist Dance teaching to a group of 20 Year 5 and 6 students from St Mark's School in Whitehawk, Brighton. The course consisted of an hour teaching of Dance every other week over the course of an academic year. The impact was an increase in the confidence and ability of the students to dance and perform publicly with others. The improvement of the students confidence and ability to perform in public was noted and commented on by the Head of St Mark's frequently. Furthermore, it allowed the primary students to work in an bespoke dance studio environment and benefit from specialist teaching of Dance. Moreover, the experience included working closely with our students to choreograph and perform their own dance pieces. The benefits to our school included building on a strong, previously existing partnership with St Mark's and allowing our staff to and students of A Level and GCSE Dance courses to form meaningful relationships with the primary children. The dancers from St Mark also participated in a dance show organised by our school which was attended by parents from the primary school who called the experience "wonderful."
