Impact Statement

The Director of Music provides weekly singing workshops in various state primary schools in the locality, which for many schools provides their music provision. The annual 'Big Sing' hosted at the school is attended by 500+ local primary school children, who enjoy a day's singing with a well known choral composer and conductor. In addition, local schools are invited to participate in high level workshops with visiting international musicians. These events help local schools to provide their pupils with high quality music opportunities. The Head of Design also undertakes a great deal of outreach work, visiting local schools and hosting local children in the Design facility, including STEM days. These events help local schools to provide their pupils with an introduction to the implementation of science, technology and maths in everyday life.
The School organises South Lakeland and Cumbria cross-country running events, providing the opportunity for a large number of children to race to qualify to represent these two areas. There are no other schools in the area with the land, facilities and staffing to host such events.
Primary Schools Rugby Development Days have been developed in the past year - approximately 40 children from three local schools have attended, as an introduction to the sport.
