Impact Statement
One teacher has gone into a state school to train teachers in our unique Emotions For Learning programme which gives young children strategies to to help them understand their emotional development and develop all-important self-regulation. This had a very positive impact on the behaviour in the school and the way in which teachers and other staff interacted with children. Our Head of Drama has spent time over the last two academic years helping to develop drama in a state school. The impact on individual pupils has been huge with an increase in confidence and ability to speak in public. The project culminated in the school participating in The Shakespeare School Festival in 2018.
A group of Year 8 pupils taught some design and technology lessons to Year 2 pupils in a local school. This gave an enrichment to the curriculum for these younger children whilst giving a sense of pride and fulfilment to the Year 8 pupils.
3 Year 8 pupils went to a local school to share Mindfulness practices they had learnt with a group of Year 6 children. They were able to talk about how Mindfulness helps them in their daily lives and the local children learnt skills which they could apply to their lives. One child said, 'I found finger breathing very useful and I think I might use this when I am doing a test'. Another said, 'When I ate chocolate mindfully I really savoured it'.
