Impact Statement

Representation on governing bodies of local state schools - a part time member of staff is Chair of Governors at our local state secondary school. He spends 3-4 hours a week in term time in this role, and has successfully has assisted Sedbergh establish a new relationship with the state school to bring increased value to both schools in areas of shared resources and special needs expertise.
Pupils supporting in state school classrooms as part of voluntary service - primary and nursery school and special needs school - 15 Sedbergh pupils, 7 state schools, averaging) 25 in a class = 175 state school pupils (primary and special).
State school pupils attend a variety of events in the school including sport, music and dramatic productions - Sedbergh hosts cross country running events which involve hundreds of state school pupils; groups are invited to attend musical and dramatic productions periodically (no figures for how many).
Facilities used by local state secondary and primary schools - swimming pool, sports pitches, music rooms for exams, use of School archive for research. Specifically, two local state primary schools have weekly swimming lessons in the School pool (each 25 pupils, one hour per week term time). This combined with the local Swimming Club using the pool means that every child in Sedbergh learns to swim whilst at primary school. Three local children who don't attend Sedbergh sat their ABRSM external exams as part of an ABRSM exam cycle (their own schools did not have enough candidates to operate as an examination centre). In addition, local children have instrumental lessons with our VMTs on School premises.
Local children may take exams at Sedbergh which are not provided at their school - there has been one candidate in the past year.
