Impact Statement

Until July 2018, the Headteacher was also the Chair of Governors for a local state school, sharing expertise in all aspects of school management and good practice.

All the local state school pupils and parents are invited to attend our annual Secondary School Fair in our school hall. This is an evening where information stands and representatives from both the Independent and State Secondary sector are set up and provides access to information about the local secondary school options to parents. This is usually attended by families with children from Year 3 to Year 6 with the opportunity to compare and contrast each school and to network and benefits the entire school community.

The school along with a local state school takes part in joint hosting of Remembrance Services. All pupils attending who are in local Services (Cubs, Scouts, etc) attend in full service uniform, resulting in a real feeling of community. This is a popular event and received much praise and thanks from members of the Royal British Legion.

We are currently supporting teacher training through a local state SCITT school by acting as the placement school for a year and resourcing the training of a graduate student. The student is allocated to a class with a member of the teaching staff acting as their mentor. This requires a considerable amount of work by the mentor to not only support the student but to also ensure we are following the prescribed training schedule. We also agree to take on a contrast placement student midway through the year so that they can each experience their training in a different setting. This is the second year we have taken part in the training programme and our previous student has since been employed as a teacher in a local state primary school and we hear is doing very well.
