Impact Statement

IT
The STEM Festival / Computing Festival are sponsored events run in collaboration with an external company but managed and catered for by Orwell Park, which invites teams from local schools to try new things with technology and computers. This allows teachers to use our facilities and expertise to deliver part of their computing curriculum, or offer it as enrichment for their G&T children. IT equipment is also gifted to schools and community groups where requested and appropriate eg 2 interactive screens were gifted to a local state school.

SPORT
The Primary Schools’ Festivals in June is an event involving pupils from local primary schools coming to Orwell to undertake sporting workshops and partake in a round-robin festival involving Orwell Park teams. Sports Scholars are used to help in sessions. The pupils from primary schools experience and use our facilities and have access to specialist staff, enhancing sporting education. The School’s sport scholars share their experience with pupils who may not be as experienced. This develops their experience of leading/coaching. Pupils play against and socialise with pupils from primary schools who may have different experiences to their own.

DT
The Design Technology department regularly loans out its equipment; for example, it has recently provided an air-powered compressor and rocket launching equipment to a local primary school to enable them to run a new scheme of work for minimal cost.
