Worksop Priory C of E Primary Academy
Worksop Priory C of E Primary Academy enjoys a unique and fruitful relationship with Worksop College in the pursuit of both academic excellence and broad, enriching curriculum experiences.
Curriculum enhancement
Our Academy is a regular beneficiary of a range of high quality experiences that would otherwise be unobtainable within the budget and resource of our own school. Regular music events offer a chance for our pupils to work with professional singers and instrumentalists, whilst an annual invitation to watch the College’s musical/show is always well received. Senior Leaders at the College have created opportunities for their staff to come to the Academy and deliver masterclass events to groups of children. Most recently, a visit by the College’s Science Department went with a bang – literally! These are such events that inspire our children to want to learn more.
We have secured a very generous agreement to use the Worksop College minibuses (and drivers if required) to help us transport children more cost effectively to educational visit destinations. As a result, our Academy is able to offer more visits per year than most, if not all other local schools, alongside attending a huge range of sporting and musical events. With the rising costs of school transport, we would not be able to sustain our enviable status in the community as ‘Nottinghamshire Sports school of the Year’ had it not been for this.
The College has also been extremely generous in opening its doors to pupils who have excelled in aspects of Academy life worthy of celebration. To this end, the Senior Leadership Team generously offer a termly lunch event for such pupils and put on a range of activities, such as climbing wall, swimming and pizza-making for our children to choose from as a reward and at no cost to ourselves. This has inspired our children to work harder and more effectively. This year alone, more than 150 children have benefited from this scheme.
Strategic
We aim to give as many pupils as possible the opportunity to take advantage of the excellent education we offer.
Our wide range of financial assistance includes scholarships for pupils with outstanding ability in particular areas and means-tested bursaries for pupils whose parents require a financial contribution from the charity towards the cost of education.
Offered from Year 7 onwards, our scholarships programme recognises gifted pupils who show significant talent across Academia, Sport, Music or Art.
As well as the prestige that comes with being a Worksop College and Ranby House scholar, some pupils can expect a fee remission of up to 25%. We have a long history of producing impressive alumni, many of whom received a scholarship.
Our bursary scheme affords a number of families a discount on our fees through a means-tested financial subsidy. The value of this is dependent on your household income, savings and assets, investments - and personal situation.
