Impact Statement

The Director of Performing Arts has been working with the Arts Co-ordinator at a local state primary school. They are being upskilled and resourced to benefit their pupils and their own professional development. The Co-ordinator is being supported in developing the KS2 curriculum to ensure it prepares children for KS3, while resources are also being developed and supplied. Two workshops for pupils have been held at the school alongside an on-going programme of outreach. Two local primary schools have been invited to watch our annual musical, 'Guys and Dolls', held at the local theatre and workshops delivered at each school prior to the performance. This input from Ewell Castle School has directly impacted on approximately 120 children.

Ewell Castle School teams in both the Prep and Senior School play a busy programme of fixtures, including hosting joint sporting events (a game followed by breakfast) with five local state schools. A member of staff is a Governor for a local state school. The Principal has attended local liaison meetings run by the Epsom and Ewell Partnership of Schools involving local state and independent schools looking at opportunities for closer working, including teacher training.

The School is a member of the Surrey Schools Teaching Network and has welcomed 5 PGCE students over the past year in order to undertake their teaching practice. In addition, 1 newly qualified teacher (NQT) has been inducted into the profession by the School since January 2018.
