Impact Statement
We create aspirational opportunities in sport and STEM for our 4000 primary school pupils at more than 30 primary schools in West Yorkshire. We host sponsored events for 10 primary school at a time, increase integration, inspire community relationships and create a better understanding of Quaker values.
In 2019, our tennis outreach programme will create 19,230 opportunities for our local primary school children to play tennis, taught by a qualified coach. In addition, we are the home of Ackworth Tennis Club, creating a footfall of 100+ tennis players on a weekly basis. We allow them to use our facilities free of charge as well as part funding a qualified coach to provide engaging lessons for the whole community.
Our table tennis programme will create 35,328 opportunities annualy for our local primary school pupils and our Modern Pentathlon outreach programme will deliver sessions to over 9500 pupils.
More than 17,000 swimming lessons are held in our swimming pool each year, all children attending are from within a 10 mile radius of Ackworth School.
We host a schedule of outreach events such as a Big Sing, a Language Carousel and an Olympic Day which attract large numbers of local primary school children to our campus. We provide transport, meals and facilities for these events free of charge..
A local theatre group use our facilities to rehearse 3 times per week for children aged 4-18. The regular performances are open to the local community and are held in our school theatre.
Ackworth School is an integral part of This Is Ackworth, a community group that meets on a regular basis to enhance community projects and promote a sustainable quality of life within our village. This is Ackworth uses Ackworth School as a base for many of the organised events that they run such as a community litter pick, climate change events and community meetings.
