Impact Statement

We have agreed with one of our local county primaries, for next academic year, to share the teaching time for a PGCE candidate who will be carrying out the bulk of their training with us but is required by their course to attend a second school.

Our Year 6 pupils take part in a nationwide Shakespeare Drama Festival, along with 1000 other schools. They work directly with up to 90 pupils from other schools in a professional theatre on the workshop and performance days, learning theatrical skills, building confidence and creating links with other school communities. We also organise and host the Caterham Prep School Drama Festival, where our Year 6 pupils work alongside up to 120 pupils from local state and private schools to create an evening of drama. We receive a great deal of positive feedback from the guest schools, who feel that joining together with us provides an enrichment activity for their pupils and increases the awareness of community for all the children involved, as well as fostering a love of performance and theatre.

We host local county primary schools at our sports’ events, from girls’ football, incorporating ten local county primary schools. We also host various netball and hockey sessions run by the Caterham School Academy Directors in each of these respective sports, involving eight local county primary schools, with Furzefield Primary School quoted as saying, "Thank you so much for making all these opportunities happen for us." We host a local county primary schools’ cricket festival, with ten local county primary schools involved. We let local county primary schools have the use of our swimming pool free of charge throughout the academic year and arrange our own swimming timetable around these external bookings.
