Impact Statement

We currently work with Boxgrove Primary School, Guildford, and hold weekly Music and Art lessons for their Year 6 pupils. We have two teachers, who each teach 15 pupils, and throughout the year 90 Year 6 Boxgrove pupils will have a rotation of Art and Music. Each sessions last 1 hour.
We work with St Edmund's Catholic Primary School and offer IT, English and Mathematics workshops. There is one subject workshop for each subject approx. per half term and that involves 1 subject teacher per subject either going to the school or their pupils coming to Tormead. There are approx 15 students in each workshop and if the event is held at St Edmund's, other pupils from local primary schools are also invited; on average, two other schools attend these events. The Humanities and English department also offer twice half termly Gifted and Talented sessions for the more able year 6 pupils. We also are in a teacher partnership with Country School Guildford. We are part of the Science partnership in which Science Teachers from both schools meet each half term to review new developments and share good practice. We are also work with St Joseph's School in Cranleigh. This is a school for pupils with learning disabilities
Our 6th Form students volunteer once a fortnight to help Year 6 Pupils with Art, English, Sport & Gymnastics at Sythwood Primary School in Woking. This was established after a request from Sythwood seeking inspirational role models to expand their own pupils' horizons.
The sports department runs taster sports sessions in the summer term to all local state primary schools. The sessions are offered to Year 5 & Year 6 Pupils. Holy Trinity, Guildford and Boxgrove took advantage of the sessions run last summer.
Our 6th Form students also volunteer once a fortnight at Boxgrove, Guildford for 1 hour assisting Boxgrove staff with their KS1 classes.
