Impact Statement
The Manor has a long-term partnership with Wootton C of E Primary School. The Heads meet termly. We provide a minibus and driver to Wootton (FOC) every week to take a group of children to their swimming lessons. In February 2018, two Teaching Assistants from Wootton attended a TA training course arranged by The Manor. In March 2018, Year 4 and Year 5 pupils from Wootton attended an Author Visit (Robin Stevens) and book signing hosted by The Manor. The Manor provided transport to and from this event. In June 2018, Year 3 pupils from Wootton attended an Athletics Afternoon. Also in June 2018, young musicians from Wootton were invited to attend orchestra on a Friday at The Manor. There are ongoing discussions around cookery lessons and sports coaching/CPD.
Over the last four years The Manor has hosted ‘Mini Sports Day’ events for local state schools. This event in June 2018 was attended by Year 3 children from three Abingdon primary schools – Marcham, Sunningwell, Wootton – the teams were made up of a mix of children from the different schools so that it was not a competitive event but a unifying and friendly experience which benefitted all of the children and teachers involved.
The Manor continues to loan its sports facilities to sports leagues/associations and drama equipment to local schools and drama clubs.
