Impact Statement

The school borrowed the Natural History Museum and NASA schools’ handling collection of Lunar and Meteorite rock samples. We invited 29 local primary schools to attend a series of lunar based activity sessions. 6 primary schools accepted our invitation, which resulted in 196 pupils from other schools attending a series of space-themed workshops based around the rock samples. The event was free of charge and included free transport to and from the event. Every school attending the sessions received a free teachers pack which included further information about the lunar and meteorite samples together with over 10 activities that the schools could use back in their own classrooms.

We invited 17 local primary schools to attend a science Olympics competition. The competition was free of charge, and included free transport to and from the event. Only 5 primary schools accepted our offer. Each school sent a team of 4 pupils who completed a series of science based tasks to win gold, silver or bronze.

For the past 9 years we have supported Moulton School by assessing their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Bronze Award Expeditions. This arrangement has been reciprocated by Moulton School, who assess our Bronze Award Expeditions in return. In 2018 we assessed 12 pupils from Moulton School who were taking part in their Bronze Award Expeditions. We also support Moulton School with advice and have loaned the school camping equipment for their Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions.
