Impact of partnership work done in 2018 (ISC annual Census 2019)

- 100 to 200 state school pupils involved
- 20 staff hours given
Our swimming pool is used free of charge by two local state primary schools.
The Headmaster of Great Moor School has written: “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to use Stockport Grammar School’s swimming pool on a regular basis. Not only is it a great facility that is very well maintained, it is also very close to our school which means we can walk to swimming. Sole use of the pool enables swimming teachers to really concentrate on developing children’s swimming skills. We have 324 children who all benefit from a six week block of weekly swimming lessons each school year. Some of our children are confident and competent swimmers and they love going to the pool to extend their skills. Other pupils have less experience of swimming and less opportunity to go swimming with their families and for these the experience of swimming lessons in a quality pool (with all the arm-bands and swimming aids) helps enormously with them learning to swim.”
We are developing a link with another local primary school, Chapel Street CPS, to share ideas and experience on 'in depth writing'. This will allow staff to learn from the expertise of others and we are also planning for the children involved in writing workshops to meet and share their work and discuss their experience. This will allow the children to broaden their experience, both in terms of their writing and also in a wider sense of social interaction.
Their Deputy Head wrote:
"Thank you for taking the time to meet with us. It was a real pleasure to be able to talk through some possible ideas for working together and building some links between the schools. Your staff were very welcoming and clearly passionate about wanting the best for the children. Please pass them out thanks too. It was also wonderful to be able to see some of the classrooms and stunning work on display before we left."
