Impact Statement

Art: We invite pupils from five local primary schools to attend a Community Art Project for two terms each year. The children work on a different project each year and are given the opportunity to exhibit their work at a private viewing for staff and governors as well as their families. This is held at Holmewood House during the final week of the course. The children benefit from the use of our facilities and our specialist Art teacher and Art technician. Our pupils benefit from working collaboratively with children from other schools.
Cricket: We are a Kent CCC partnership school. We are in partnership with Kent Cricket to allow them to use our facilities and coaching to enable them to access high level coaching which may be unavailable at their schools. This involves boys and girls aged 12-17. They will use the outdoor facilities for matches during the summer.
Swimming: Three local primary schools use our swimming pool for weekly swimming lessons or intensive weekly courses. We have expanded our partnership to two local swimming clubs (attached to a local senior school) who use the pool on a weekly basis. Approximately 200 different children at these clubs aged between 11-16 benefit from using the pool. We also run a swim school during the evenings and weekends in term time for children from the local community who also benefit from our facilities.
Holiday courses: we run holiday courses for two weeks during the Easter holidays and five weeks throughout the summer holidays and these are open to our own pupils and children from the local community. A range of sporting, artistic and creative activities are on offer and attended by around 500 non-Holmewood pupils. This provides opportunities for the children to engage in a variety of activities during the school holidays as well as a safe and caring environment for the children of working parents.
