Impact Statement

We host regular tours of the school and 1066 battlefield for local state schools and provide refreshments and staff (to host school tour) free of charge. These visitors are able to see the historic parts of the site which are not open to English Heritage tourists.

During the summer and xmas holidays, we hold singing courses for pupils from local state schools - although a small charge is made to cover staff costs, the pupils benefit from excellent tuition and also take part in a public performance at the end of the week.

We host regular sports competitions with local state primary schools and cover all staff and refreshment costs. These activities are hugely popular with the schools involved.

Our swimming pool is used by several local schools and voluntary organisations when not required for our own use. The poool is a popular facility and although a hire charge is made, it does not cover all our costs.

We allow our dance studio and astro to be used weekly by a variety of local organisations at no cost.
