Impact Statement

Our Forest School initiative has had an impact of all the children who have attended in a most positive way. Schools report of the increased confidence and willingness to take a risk and have also found staff encouraged and motivated to extend their own learning with one school going on to train one of their own staff to run sessions too. Through our scholar programme in school we have a range of workshops and speakers join us to inspire students and present additional challenge. Opening these to other schools has provided them with opportunities which they would not have had access to and although this is a small number who attend (sometimes only single students from a school) this does enable their talents to be recognised and challenge provided and enables them to work with other students of similar abilities. By opening our staff CPD programme to other schools, teachers are engaged in networking and improving teaching and learning in their own classrooms, sharing best practice and carrying out action research which further improves outcomes for all pupils. Our Parent Conference was open to parents from other schools and will be a regular biannual event. Parents engaged in discussion with other parents and key speakers on a range of issues related to parenting children of all ages. The impact of events such as this is that parent partnership is strengthened, the parent learning community is strong with Holme Grange leading this in the local area. Our sports partnerships have enabled students to engage in competitive sport where this may not have been possible and this “ It was lovely to see some children who wouldn’t attempt any challenge then grow in self-confidence. Holme Grange's art partnerships particularly with regard to our arts mark status have benefited both staff and pupils. Holme Grange staff have provided CPD to colleagues and engaged pupils in a range of activities, including pupils from Holme Grange visiting a state primary school to teach younger students, prompting this school's headteacher to comment on the impact this opportunity had in enabling his students to undertake activities and use resources they do not have in their own school and grow confidence. Pupils produced work which enabled talents to be developed and harnessed which otherwise would not have been highlighted. Staff increased confidence in delivering sessions and our own pupils gained invaluable experience at a personal level and developed their sense of service and citizenship.
