A partnership between the Music departments of The Cherwell School and Headington School, offering teaching and technical support. 

Aims of the project

The partnership aims to ensure that A-level Music pupils at the Cherwell School have access to the staff, facilities and expertise required to deliver an outstanding academic Music course.  

Background and goals

The Cherwell school were originally in need of some A-level Music teaching cover, and through a family link with the Head of Academic Music at Headington, cover was arranged so that the A-level course could be delivered with the assistance of Headington teaching staff.  


The Head of Academic Music at Headington School originally provided teaching on-site at the Cherwell school, and he continues to offer additional support as necessary.  

The Music Technician at Headington School records and processes A Level pieces for the pupils from The Cherwell School, using the Headington recording studio and performance spaces.   


The Heads of Department meet regularly to discuss the partnership, and to look for further opportunities to support one another.

This is an ongoing partnership, with the exact nature of the support provided varying dependant on the needs identified. Partnership activities happen regularly and are likely to continue for the foreseeable future.
