Phoenix Academy - weekly twilight sessions for Y11 students: English, physics, chemistry, biology, maths

Partner: Phoenix High School, London
Partner type: Maintained School
Project category: Academic

Every week throughout the academic year, up to 16 students from Phoenix Academy come to Latymer Upper for academic intervention sessions taught by LUS staff. The sessions are two hours long and cover specific areas of the GCSE curriculum. Staff from both schools collaborate on topics to be covered.

This project has been running for several years. As Phoenix no longer has a sixth form, we are hoping that the most academic of the Phoenix students will consider applying to Latymer Upper for 16+ entry and, where applicable, take advantage of our generous bursary provision.

“Our students benefited from the support. They were part of a wider intervention programme that saw Phoenix become the most improved secondary school in London last year.” Mike Baxter (Head of School - Phoenix Academy).
