Following the success of the 400th Anniversary Lecture Series, The Perse continues to hold a termly Community Lecture at the School.
The Summer Term lecture will be given by Professor Alice Roberts, anatomist, author and broadcaster, on the topic ‘Tamed: 3 species that changed our world’
Alice Roberts is is an anatomist and biological anthropologist, author and broadcaster, and Professor of Public Engagement in Science at the University of Birmingham. She originally studied medicine and anatomy at Cardiff University, and worked as a junior doctor in South Wales. In 2012, Alice became the University of Birmingham’s first Professor of Public Engagement with Science, where she continues to teach anatomy and do some research, as well as encouraging other academics to communicate with the wider public. Her latest book, Tamed: Ten species that changed the world, traces the origin and history of domesticated species, from dogs to horses; wheat to apples.
