A message from the Parliamentary Undersecretary of schools, Lord Nash, and the Chair of the ISSP forum, Deborah Leek-Bailey OBE.

Welcome to the new Independent State School Partnership (ISSP) website.

We want this website to be a source of inspiration, advice and guidance for all schools who are interested in being involved in an independent state school partnership. We believe that partnerships between independent and state schools are of clear benefit to the students and staff that participate and so we want to encourage the development of more ISSPs.

On this website you can see what other partnerships are doing, upload and update your collaborative activity and learn from each other.

We are passionate about the benefits that cross-sector collaboration can bring – raising attainment and aspirations, narrowing the gap for all children and helping them to become confident, resilient, well-rounded citizens in the modern world, as well as providing opportunities for staff to develop experience and skills and gain new inspiration. ISSPs can be tailored to your individual circumstances and, with strong relationships underpinning them, any challenges that do arise can be overcome.

So we hope this website encourages many more schools, both state and independent, to consider coming together. As so many of your experiences testify, where there’s true collaboration, the benefits flow both ways – harnessing excellence, driving innovation and inspiring better teaching right across the system.
