Volunteering at Thirlestaine Park Care Home
Our girls visit the home twice a week to interact with the residents and provide a sense of wider community. By creating a partnership between generations, this project gives social cohesion to both our girls and the residents of the nursing home.
Aims
The aim of the project is to give companionship to the residents of Thirlestaine Park, and thus prevent the growing phenomenon of the isolation of the elderly in a world with a fast-aging population.
Resources
A variety of teaching and non-teaching staff are involved with the organisation and monitoring of the girls' volunteering efforts.
Pupil Involvement
Sixth Form pupils, aged between 16 and 18, are currently involved in this community project.
Frequency
This an ongoing project.
