To promote and support Oakham Library reading
The Head of Library is a member of the Rutland Libraries Consortium, which includes the Oakham Library. Accordingly, we promote and support Oakham Library reading initiatives and we accommodate requests from the Oakham Library for access to our collections on a case-by-case basis.
The Head of Library is also a member of the National Committee of the School Libraries Group of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. In this capacity he works to strengthen the provision of library services in all schools and frequently speaks at regional and national conferences, particularly on the librarian’s role in developing capacity for independent learning.
The Librarians are members of the School Libraries Group of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. In this capacity they have produced worksheets for school reading groups; for example Being Me and Shakespeare.
Displays in the Library foyer are open to the public and draw significant interest.
