Bloxham Primary School, Bishop Loveday Primary School, Deddington Primary School and Sibford Gower Primary School all attended a tennis festival at Tudor Hall School.
This event allowed the children participating to have some quality tennis coaching with Tudor Hall's tennis coaches and then they got the opportunity to put their new skills to good use in a small tennis tournament. The event lasted from 10am to 2pm and the children enjoyed lunch and snacks whilst at Tudor Hall School.
To enable primary school chidren to particapte in competitive tennis, tennis is not easily accessible in the local community so this is key area of need for local schools.
There is a long standing relationship between Tudor Hall and the local primary schools, we try to choose different schools each year who will benefit from the coaching and competition experience.
The tennis coaches and PE teachers of Tudor Hall lead this activity and are therefore pivotal to its success. Tudor Hall tennis courts and dining hall facilties are used throughout the day.
The festival focused on developing skills and competitive game play, many of these children had never played competitive tennis before and this is a fantastic introductory session.
Some of the tennis coaches are pupils who have reached their level 1 qualification and they are trying to hone their coaching skills.
The children taking part were aged between 9-10 and were boys and girls.
This is an annual event.
