St Edmund's Festival 2019
St Edmund's Festival 2019 is a celebration of art, music and drama. It allows pupils to work alongside (and learn from) professional performers. This year pupils from several local state primary schools will be participating in the Festival:
GOSPEL VOCAL WORKSHOP (Y 5 – 8)
St Faith's Prep
Wellesley House Prep
St Stephen's Primary
BIG BAND FOR SCHOOLS (Y 5 & 6)
TIPPETT'S TUNEFUL TALES (Y 2 & 3)
The Festival aims to celebrate the creative arts, provide a platform for young people to express themselves and offer the opportunity to be inspired by working with professional musicians, actors and artists. Pupils from local state schools are invited to participate and free tickets to events are provided to local schools, charities and community groups.
The Festival was established at St Edmund's in 2017. It has grown in scope and ambition, atrracting top musicians and artists. The school decided that the Festival should be fully accessible to the local community and enable children from the Canterbury and Whitstable areas to benefit from the range of learning and performance opportunities on offer.
The event is organised, hosted and part-financed by St Edmund's School and supported by a range of local corporate and individual sponsors.
There is an annual review of the Festival. It seeks to assess its school and community impact. At the review in 2018, it was decided to broaden access opportunities.
This will involve pupils from the age of 5-18.
This is an annual project.
