Rotary Youth Speaks competition (Ansford Academy Trust, Castle Cary)

Bruton School for Girls hosted a public speaking contest organised by the Rotary Clubs of Shepton Mallet and Brue Valley.  Other schools participating were: The Park School in Yeovil, Whitstone School in Shepton Mallet, Heathfield School in Taunton, Oldfield School and Kingswood School, both in Bath.

Aims

 

To provide a venue for pupils from five schools across Somerset to battle it out for a place in the district final of the Rotary Youth Speaks competition.

The Rotary Youth Speaks Competition is a competition organised and promoted by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland. It is a four stage competition which is designed to support and encourage the development of effective communication skills. 

Background

This national youth competition is one which Bruton School for Girls regularly competes in.

Resources

The event was held in our Main School Hall with the help of our English teaching staff as well as assistance from the Marketing department.

Pupil Involvement

The competition was open to both boys and girls who fell in to the Intermediate age group (11 - 13).
