Primary Mentoring (Collingwood Primary School, Hull)
Students from Year 12 at Hymers College travel each week to Collingwood to help the young studnets with their English and reading.
The project is aimed at improving the reading ability of the Collingwood children.
The project has been running for at least 10 years and came about from the two headteachers having a conversation.
About 20 children give up a lunchtime each week to assist at Collingwood.
It is the highlight of the week for all concerned and strong bonds have been developed between the senior students and their young charges.
It happens every year and around 20 children travel across once a week.
