Malvern St James - STEM Morning
Children from Malvern Parish C of E Primary School attended the Malvern St James Junior Schools’ Science Morning. Where every pupil experienced four STEM subject sessions. This year the four subjects were Biology, Chemistry, Physics and ICT.
Aims
To engender a passion for STEM in children in our community, provide an opportunity for junior schools to share MSJ’s STEM facilities and expertise.
Resources
Admin and organisation of the event is provided by MSJ’s Head of Science. The sessions were each run by Academic staff from the Biology, Chemistry, Physics and ICT departments. Each session was supported by resources from the different departments and practical demonstrations in the science labs were supported by each department’s lab technicians. Tea for all was provided by the Catering Department.
Impact
The event has been running for eight years and the feedback we receive from local schools tells us that both children and staff look forward to it each year. The schools that attend do so year after year.
Pupil Involvement
The event is open to junior school children aged 9 to 11.
Frequency
Held over a morning and scheduled every other year in tandem with its sister event; The Junior Schools’ Technology Morning.
