Future Leaders Conference

The Arete Network in conjunction with The Girls network hosted a one day conference at Wycombe Abbey school for 70 year 9/10 girls of black and African ethnic origin from Hornsey School for Girls Crouch End and Archbishop Tenison’s CE High School in Croydon. 

The day involved inspirational speakers from influential and successful women in various sectors, followed by seminars designed to motivate and educate the girls. Also in attendance were a team of mentors - career women who work one to one with these young girls to advise and inspire them from their own experiences. Alongside the seminars for the pupils, the mentors had training workshops. 

 

 

Background

A Wycombe Abbey parent is a mentor for the Girls' Network and founder of the Arete Network and the Deputy Head knows the Girls' Network founder.

Resources

The day involved using the school's recital hall, classrooms and dining hall. Two staff were invovled in helping coordinate the logitics of the day and supporting the event. The event took 6 months to plan .

After the success of the first one in 2018, further conferences are planned for the future.
