Dulwich Hamlet Junior School
Dulwich Hamlet Junior School returned to the theatre in July 2018 for three days to rehearse and perform their end of term show.
Resources
The School spent one full day rehearsing in the theatre, followed by two performance days. Younger pupils from the School came to watch a matinee perfromance of the show, and parents and friends were invited to the evening performances.
The theatre and technical equipment were hired to the School free of charge. Some staff costs were charged back to the School, for specialised staff required when working in a professional theatre space.
Dulwich Hamlet parents association ran the bar for the event, keeping any proceeds made.
Impact
The size of their School hall would not be able to accomodate a production of this size. They we not limited to what they wanted to achieve using the space. The School used pyro effects with confetti bombs, had a live orchestra in the orchestra pit and haze and moving lights which all helped create a spectacular show.
The children enjoyed performing in front of thier family and friends.
Frequency
Dulwich Hamlets will return to Alleyn's theatre next July.
