On 13th July 2021, 26 students from the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) group at Midhurst Rother College attended Winchester College. The aim of the session was to teach French through non-language subjects. The group was given a tour of the College in French, learning about the historic buildings and how the college has changed over time. They had a hands-on session with Suzanne Ceiriog-Hughes from the College Treasury where they puzzled out what some historical artefacts were. This was followed by a forest school session with Dan Wright, the Duncan Louis Stewart Fellow of Natural History at Winchester College. Here they were guided through how to light a fire, before cooking sausages and toasting marshmallows, all in French. A sing-along to Frere Jacques in the round made this a unique experience. We look forward to inviting the group back for more activities in French.
