CCF Partnership with Beds & Herts Cadet Force and Harris Academy (Cadet Expansion Program)

Beds & Herts Cadet Force use our facilities, such as the rifle range and military assets, as well as five of our CFAVs (Adult Volunteers) on a regular basis. 

SCC is also supporting the Harris Academy, Hatfield in the cadet expansion programme. Our CCF staff and cadets are coordinating training and camps. 

Aims

Use of the facilities enables their organisation to promote a better range of activities and cadet exercises for their cadets.

Our SSI also regularly supports cadet sessions.

Background

SSI has experience in working with youth groups and schools. He has built up contacts in Anglican division and is often called on to support other schools as part of the cadet expansion programme.

Impact

A good example of the partnership is 24 of our personnel playing enemy to 105 of their cadets to enable them to complete their field craft syllabus.

SSI Burns in a cadet force volunteers with the force. He has many years of experience in youth development and leadership programmes.

There is a mutual benefit to the young people in both forces in this collaborative approach, developing cadet leaders.

Example of summer project:

St Columba's College CCF hosted Harris Academy (Cadet Expansion Program) state schools Summer Camp 2021. Eight cadets attended and buddied up with Harris Academy Cadets to show them Military Camping and the like.  We stayed out over night with them and they came here and used our facilities for training. 

 

Pupil Involvement

13-18 yrs. Friday afternoon sessions and field events.

Tuesday commitment to CCF Hatfield.
